As well as reminding me of a classic Yes Minister episode, the mention in my inbox of British Sausage Week made my stomach grumble, and reminded me of the maple syrup chipolatas I made not too long ago.
Here's my short list of the best events to celebrate Great British Sausage Week in London this November.
What's more, for the night owls amongst you these meaty treats are on offer 24 hours a day. I can't think of a better preemptive hangover cure.
Here's my short list of the best events to celebrate Great British Sausage Week in London this November.
1) Brook Green Wild Food Market
A dedicated foodie market, Brook Green
provides master classes for those who will be taking a hands on approach to celebrating Great British Sausage Week.
This week the team will be giving sausage-making demos, as well encouraging experimentation with fruit, vegetables,
mushrooms, apples and cheese to create delicious flavour combinations.
Picks Organic Farm will be serving a sausage specially
created to mark the occasion, and street food stalwards, Wild Dogs, will be
serving their homegrown, British wild breed pork sausage with caramelised
onions.
The market takes place ever Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm at Addison Primary School, on Addison Gardens. The nearest tube stations are Shepherd's Bush and Goldhawk Road.

2) HG Walter
HG Walter (thought to be London’s leading butcher) have a
huge array of award-winning sausages including mouth-watering options like beef
and Guinness, wild boar and apple and free range country style pork, which was
voted ‘sausage heaven’ by legendary food
critic for The Times, Charles Campion.
HG Walter deliver across London and
nationwide so order a batch and cook them up at home, or you can head to the
shop in Baron’s Court, London, to make your own.

3) 24 Hour Polo Bar
The fashionable Polo Bar near Liverpool Street Station has created a special sausage menu in honour of the English banger, and has even commissioned a limited edition sausage – ‘The Londoner’ – from award-winners The Franconian Sausage Company. This once in a lifetime sausage is pork seasoned with sage and a secret blend of herbs.
Dinners may choose to indulge their appetite for sausage in one of three classic ways, as a sandwich, bangers and mash or toad in the hole.
In honour of the noble institution of the British Sausage, let's relive Jim Thacker's hilarious speech in one of the best British sitcoms of all time, Yes Minister.
